Sevilla dockyard prepares for closureDock workers in Sevilla are preparing for the dole as the city’s dockyard is preparing for closure. The unions warn of the ‘serious damage’ the closure would mean for the industry in Spain and workers have announced protests and demand solutions. Last month saw 400 redundancies.
The administrator says that the lack of financing and the size of the debt has now condemned the dock, while the President of the Junta, José Antonio Griñán, has promised an exit for the 108 workers who remain. 50 million are needed to complete two ships currently under construction, and debts have risen to 75 million, according to El Pais.
