9/11 anniversary: Sombre US honours victims 10 years on

The memorial ceremony was presented by President Obama and former president George Bush at Ground Zero
10 years after the attacks were done, ceremonies are being held all over the world honouring the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Almost 3,000 people died due to the crash of the four hijacked planes, the planes where directed to the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and the Pennsylvania field.

The ceremony was crowed by relatives whose eyes came up with tears as they read out the names of the victims.
Security is tight following warnings of a possible new attack by al-Qaeda, the group behind the 2001 attacks.
The first plane hit the WTC's North Tower at 08:46 (13:46 GMT), the second at 09:03.
The third attack, on the Pentagon, occurred at 09:37 and it was at 10:03 that the fourth plane was forced down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, by passengers who had fought their hijackers after learning of the other attacks.
